The team at MidCoast Libraries is excited to welcome not one, but two inspiring authors during August to share their unique insights into creative writing and their latest works.

Winter is the perfect time to curl up with a good book and travel through the pages to a warmer climate. In Annie Seaton’s new novel, Whitsunday Dawn, you’ll be transported to the epic far north Queensland to enjoy a romantic eco-adventure story.

Annie is a best-selling author and a resident of the MidCoast. She’ll host an author-talk at Taree and Wingham libraries, bringing her latest novel to life in person, and sharing her experiences as a published writer. Themes within Whitsunday Dawn include history and adventure, environmental protection, and a good dose of romance.

“Hearing first-hand from the author of any book not only provides inspiration and encouragement for budding writers, but brings a deeper appreciation for reading”, Chris Jones, MidCoast Council’s manager libraries said.

Annie Seaton will be at Wingham library on Tuesday August 7 from 10.30am to 11.30am, and later at Taree library from 1pm to 2pm. She will be signing and selling copies of Whitsunday Dawn at both events.

And taking us to the other side of the planet, author GJ Maher will visit Forster library to share stories from his new book, Moon Over the Mediterranean. Through this extraordinary adventure, you’ll follow Alexander, a conscientious objector in 1960’s Holland, on a hippie trail through Greece, India, Nepal, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Iran, Israel and beyond.

Geof Maher has an extensive background in writing for magazines, and Moon Over the Mediterranean is his first novel.  When he’s not travelling the world, Geof enjoys spending time in the MidCoast region. Moon Over the Mediterranean will transport you back in time to experience the enchantment of a vastly different world to the one we know today.

You can meet Geof and purchase a signed copy of Moon Over the Mediterranean at Forster library, Monday 20 August from 10.30am.

“Meeting and chatting with both Annie Seaton and Geof Maher is a great opportunity for the local community to learn about developing creative ideas into a finished product”, Chris added.

Both author events are free to attend, but bookings are essential and can be made by visiting www.midcoastlibraries.com.au
